Stephen H. Jones

Stephen H. Jones is a sociologist of religion whose research focuses on the intersections between belief, politics and public policy. His primary areas of expertise are in Islam and Muslims in the U.K. and religious and non-religious publics’ perceptions of science. He was General Secretary of the Muslims in Britain Research Network (2017-2020) and is the author of Islam and the Liberal State: National Identity and the Future of Muslim Britain (IB Tauris, 2020). He is co-primary investigator for the Templeton Religion Trust-funded “International Research Network for the Study of Science and Belief in Society” and he is co-editor (with Tom Kaden and Rebecca Catto) of Science, Belief and Society: International Perspectives on Religion, Non-Religion and the Public Understanding of Science (University of Bristol Press, 2019). He is a lecturer in the department of theology and religion at the University of Birmingham, U.K.
